JUVENTUS CAN SIGN MIDFIELDER FOR £40m

Italian champions Juventus can sign one of their former players for £40m according to the publication from The Athletic. Manchester United player Paul Pogba has been a reported target to return to Italian football with Juventus since he left the Old Lady in 2016. The Frenchman left Italian footballfor Manchester United in a world-record deal of £89m as at then.

Clubs like Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) were interested in Paul Pogba in the past months but they were put off by the £150m asking price from Manchester United. His form dwindled last season and that prompted his asking price to reduce to £80m.

The latest report disclosed that Manchester United would be better served to cash in on Paul Pogba and concentrate on new signing Donny Van De Beek. Pogba had less than a year on his Manchester United contract before the Red Devils activated the extra year clause in his contract to take it to 2022. He has less than two years on his Manchester United contract at the moment and a £40m transfer fee would be moderate enough though Manchester United would be taking a £49m hit on the player.

Paul Pogba ventured into Italian football for the first time in 2012 following his free transfer move to Juventus from Manchester United. He was freshly out of the Manchester United Academy and was fed up with the lack of opportunities under then Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson. The biggest moments in Paul Pogba’s club career have come in Italian football where he played for four years. Pogba won the Italian Serie A title in each of the four seasons with Juventus. In addition, he also helped the Italians qualify for the Champions League final in 2015 before they were beaten 3-1 by Barcelona.
